week of 1.4.09

Our Sunday morning class began a study of a brand new Max Lucado book this past Sunday morning, Cast of Characters.  The book came out in September, I think.  The book is excellent.  The class is also excellent.  It's well attended and usually has a good bit of lively and provocative discussion.  And right now, the teachers rotate which provides for variety and limits teacher fatigue.  JOIN US!!!

I'm tickled at the beginning we had with "Bono Buddies."  It appears that the kids took to it well, as well as a few adults who always come out and say that's a better way to teach them, too.  Gabby, who is always a hoot and never quite sticks to the script, is the real star of the show.  Closet preacher.

I must thank Tommy McElrath and Alan Keith for the new puppet house--"Mouse House."  I asked them only a week ago if they could build one and viola! there it is.  Great job guys.

The Bono leaders retreat this Saturday is a great thing for the church.  Though a great deal of our time will be spent on budget, we will spend some time talking about how to be better leaders and how to take that extra knowledge and better lead the church.  I can say that I observe in our leaders men who very much have a heart for the church and the lost and who want to grow in their leadership roles.  Remember to pray for them often.  And I guess I'll throw in, pray for me, too--"if you want a better minister, pray for the one you have," someone said.

We need to fill out the roster for the upcoming Divorce Recovery Seminar to be led by Terri Inman.  Terri does an excellent job, having lived the terror of divorce herself some time ago and having now led several Divorce Recovery seminars.  If you know of someone at work, have a relative, have a friend--if you know anybody--struggling with the pain of divorce, tell them about the seminar and try to get them to sign up.  It will bless them.

I enjoyed Sunday night as well and am abit saddened that I won't be there to see it very often since I have a prior committment most Sunday nights with the college group. Others have commented to me how much they enjoyed it also. You and Jayneen have a great rapport on and off stage. Keep up the good work!
